They put aside their peaceful culture when Kil'jaeden, a demon lord of the Burning Legion, the corrupted and used them to avenge the draenei, exiles from Kil'jaeden's homeworld.

History of the orcs

Kil'jaeden's plan worked. The orcs drank the blood of Mannoroth, a major general of the Burning Legion, which imbibed power and enslaved the Legion. Thrall led his people to Kalimdor, where his friend and mentor, Grom Hellscream sacrificed to defeat Mannoroth and freeing the orcs forever the yoke of the Legion.

Years later, Thrall returned to Draenor, now known as Outland, to stop once again to the Legion. There, he convinced Garrosh, son of Grom Hellscream, to join the Horde. Thrall Garrosh saw a worthy his successor, but the uncontrollable aggressiveness and impulsive young Hellscream led him to commit heinous acts against the Horde itself. Survivors of the city, including the young prince was Varian Wrynn, fled to Lordaeron, where the leaders of the seven kingdoms decided to rejoin as the Alliance of Lordaeron. Together, they managed to defeat the Horde, but the peace of the Alliance proved to be short-lived.

On the occasion of rising maintenance, Gilneas and Stromgarde renounced their kingdoms of the Alliance, after which came a plague that thousands of human lives claimed and turned them into undead servants of the Lich King. The Lich King Arthas Menethil manipulated, the prince of Lordaeron, to kill his own father and go to Northrend, where it merged with his master and became the next Lich King. Over the next five years, he remained in Northrend Arthas plotting his plan and expand his army.

However, before Arthas could unleash the power he had accumulated, humans and other races joined forces and won a hard victory. Members of the Horde and the Alliance launched separate campaigns in Northrend, and his attempt led to the defeat of the Lich King.
